Adverb Modify A Verb

I think D
An Adverb is to a verb as an adjective is to a noun.
An Adverb make a veb come alive.
so in sentence A 'boy' is a noun. Smart is what you are so that is a noun I think.
in sentence B 'hid' is a verb and 'quickly' describes that verb
in sentecne C 'old' would decribe the dress which is a noun. Old is something you are so I think that is a noun as well.
in sentence D 'manner' is a way of behaving - something you do.. a verb, slow describes that verb so that makes 'slow' and adverb and 'extrememly' would describe 'slow'

So if I have to go with just ONE sentence, I pick D.
Altough my heart of hearts likes both B and D

B. try reversing the adverb/verb, and then read them...

ex
A - smart very ... no
B - hid quickly ... WE HAVE A WINNER! :)
C - old terribly ... nope
D - slow extremely ... nope again

hope this helps, and you can apply it to any sentence and it should work exactly like that.
