I once heard it said that your world reflects you. I've also heard it said that what you focus on, grows. In other words, if I experience racism it's because I'm (in some aspect...even if subconsciously) a racist. And if I'm looking for somebody to show "hints" of racism, I'll find it. [Just like if a woman suspects her man of cheating and she goes looking for evidence, she's GOING to find another woman's number somewhere in his stuff. NEVERMIND that it's a new client, or that he's delivering the number to someone else. In HER mind, he's unfaithful and is about to "go DOWN!"] We all get to choose what "affects" our world by focusing or removing focus from certain things...personally, I'm still learning to shift my focus toward the things I want. "Perception is the ultimate reality, but not necessarily the ultimate truth." I actually had a FEW times where my former supervisor made some HIGHLY inappropriate racially-tinted comments to me. And by all counts, I could have probably "won" a discrimination lawsuit, but I KNEW his comments were made in the UTMOST of ignorance (and I'm not just saying what your parents may have sometimes said to soften the blow, either...this man HAD to be the emotional true story that Forrest Gump was based on!). But once we remove our own insecurities about who we really are (underneath the ego & personality), and get to our "REAL" true essence-tial selves, all that craziness is an illusion.

I look like an Eastern European (cos I am) , But I sound Aussie through and through (cos I am, I was born here) .A lot of my mates call me wog, only mates though. However I have found with many people that if they have an Aussie accent, no matter where they are from, it tends to relax people. On the other hand if someone has a heavy foreign accent but is giving English a good hot go, they are accepted as well. Racism exists everywhere, but if I have to deal with it at work, I usually give people a chance to shut it, or i'm going straight to the boss. It shuts people up pretty quick.

I would like to think that I'm not a racist but I think everyone has a little in their heart. I try to treat everyone as an individual and not judge them by their race and culture. I used to work with many different races and found many didn't support the stereo for their race. Just give everybody a chance.

I combat racism by teaching my children that all people are children of God and are equal, regardless of what they look like or where they come from. It is a small thing, and it will not help our world right now, but it is a step in the right direction.

I've come across probably more racism within my own than I have from the outside.
All in all, racists from my experience are in the minority so I don't worry about it too often.

that's just it. people think racists only attack over color. i was attacked for being a military brat who moved to a none military town. (my grandfathers hometown) my mom said they were just jealous because of what i have gotten to experience over seas, (Berlin wall, a royal wedding, cool cultural experiences and celebration as well) but those experience made people call me a foreigner, traitor and even Nazi. i look white, but i am also a born southerner, who has many nationalities in my blood line. all this gave me one gift, a way i deal with it, that gift is being proud of who i am, proud of where i have been and taught me how to tolerate hate and misconception as one moral i hold close to my heart says,
(don't judge a book by its cover) you never know what you will find, its what's inside them that counts.

Some people are just racists. Ignoring them is the best thing. Most people stay within their race-and color. I know I do.

Depends on who and under what circumstances somebody is aggravating me on that matter. If there's a stupid dick--head that I'll probably never see again, just won't care at all.

Pretend we are all born deaf and blind and see past our differences the best I can. Otherwise life would be difficult.
