That is usually a bad sign. The whole mechanical layout is in tough shape. (I wouldn't be surprised if you said that you own a DELL... they are crappy that way).
If your computer is under warranty, then contact the manufacturer. Unfortunately, this problem will probably re-occur.

The backspace button is jammed. Either fix that, or use an external keyboard and disable the one in your laptop.

there is probably a stuck key, check your backspace key. if you have a laptop (turn it off first) it's easy to pry the key up (carefully you dont' want to snap the plastic) and get rid of any sticky stuff in there, use a slightly moist qtip and also a can of air, blow the air in there and examine it carefully for foreign objects

Probably a spill, if that is/isn't (doesnt matter) the case, you should be able to repair/replace if you have a warranty. OR your computer might be MAJOR F-ed up by some huge spyware/viruses, but I doubt it...

Did you spill something on the keyboard? Sounds like the keys are sticking. Clean it, if you can, safely, and it should be okay.
