I love to ride but would like to take longer trips but I am so new on my bike that I like to travel on low traffic in LA
Wher can I ride and build my confidence in riding by the way I am a grandmother of two and I have 600cc and handle it well Just traffic scares me And I don't have a tatoo and you would never guess I ride a great bike like I do

I started out taking the class, and then riding just around my neighborhood for a couple of weeks. I then began riding with a group of people and we did some highway trips, etc. Now I ride anywhere, including interstate traffic. Take your baby steps, learn your skills, and then go to the next level. If you ever feel uncomfortable or scared of a situation, find a safe place and stop for a bit. There are plenty of places to ride; no sense in taking a risk of losing your life because you're worrying too much. Keep your knees in the breeze and enjoy!!!

Congrats, you ride!
Find routes that are low traffic, just put around your neighborhood as you get used to the bike. You are never too experienced to do some "parking lot time" and practice slow manuevers like tight turns, braking, swerving/weaving lines.
I reccommend 2 sites for lady riders, These folks actually meet to go riding together. www.ridemyown.com and www.intruderalert.com I'm betting you will find other ladies in your area to help get over that traffic scary feeling.
I'm on the intruder forum as Keeper. Both sites have great advice and support for us lady riders.

get a map of your area and look for routes out of the way kind a thing, ride with another person or find a riding group in your area.talking and riding with others helps ,reassurance is a great confidence booster . if you see other riders in your travels you don't half to be riding that day go talk to them, even the scary biker types. the more you ride the more people you meet the easier it becomes. have a great ride.

If you can handle LA traffic, you could ride anywhere. Traffic should scare you. When you least expect it, some car will not recognize you as a vehicle. Defensive driving is a must on cycles.

That's normal when you are starting out. My advice is to stick to lightly traveled streets until you feel you are pretty good at controlling the bike itself. Then gradually venture out into heavier traffic a little at a time.

I've been riding for 30 years, stay alert and assume someone will do something stupid.
The more you ride the more comfortable it will become. I highly reccomend a driving course, they can give you tips on avoiding the stupid people.

Don't listen to people who don't ride. You hang in there.

if you ride and you are scared...you shouldn't be riding. Worse case scenario...take some rider courses at your DMV.
