ever since I was little, I sometimes get very uncomfortable nasal congestion. It's really odd, but when I lay down it gets worse, so it's hard to sleep (I don't like breathing through my mouth....it gets dry). Sometimes when I lay on my side, the side of my nose that's facing the ceilling is clear(er), but the side below gets worse. why is that? I asked my doctor, and she said maybe fluid drains on that side when I don't lay on it, but that doesn't make sense to me...also, if I move my head a lot (doing exercises), it clears up for a few seconds.
anyway, I kind of get uneasy, 'cause I wonder "what if my lungs go bad someday and I need tubes in my nose...if my nose gets conjested, I won't be able to breathe at all!"

are there any good medicines that will work well? I'm using something called 'suphedrine pe' that's a sudafed knockoff I guess. any suggestions for a natural remedy, or medicine? it would be appreciated lots

ok boil a liter or two of water, leave it off the stove for 2-3 minutes, then sit next to it on the ground/carpet, cover yourself and the pot with a blanket/beach towel or a big sheet so that you make a tent and the steam does not escape. Then sit in it for 10-15 minutes at a time, as often as every 3-4 hours. If you have secretions plugging you up, you will get a runny nose and get cleaned up. Do this at least an hour away from sleepy time.

Try multiple over the counter or prescription antihistamines. One will suit you better than the rest, and or singulair

thirdly try intra nasal steroid sprays regularly. e.g. flonase, nasonex etc

If a combination of all three fails then you can try to see an ENT doctor to consider things like FESS surgery, evaluation for polyps or severly twisted DNS (deviated nasal septum)

feel free to email me with any questions, all the best
