i'm a male experiencing the same problem as you write about. i don't think it's a bit funny; in fact, you have my total sympathy. i've been to two different urologists and have tried viagra, levitra, cialis, penis pump, penis suppositories, and penis injections---all resulting in minor success, but not a lasting erection allowing for penetration and completion of intercourse. i'm not even able to JO. it's been since dec. 2005 and i've finally decided to follow the advice of my urologist and have a penile implant. i've weighed all the pros and cons and can only hope that this procedure will restore me to an active sex life again.
again, you're very right in stating that it's a funny matter. it is a hideously frustrating problem, lowering self-esteem, and for me causing a growing sense of despair. i feel like that's all i dwell on, but i can't ignore the sex drive which is still very alive and well.
my wife is very undrstanding and i pleasure her orally as frequently as possible. BUT i've reached the point where i want my own pleasure back. it's one of the greatest gifts given to us and i can't just accept that my sex life is over.
you're not alone with your problem. my dr. says the statistic is something like 3,000,000 american men seek help for ED, 3,000,000 won't even admit to having it, and 3,000,000 just accept it and end their sex life. I'm choosing to fight and i believe you are too. don't give up hope. keep seeing your dr. or another one until someone really listens to you, seeing the sorrow in your face and the pain in your heart.
Best of luck to you. I hope my response is of some value.

Of course there is help for you. Have your doctor refer you to a urologist, or go on your own, to rule out any physical reasons for your impotence, such as prostate problems. If everything checks out okay physically, there may be emotional reasons for this disorder. In fact, it might be a good idea to have a complete physical exam, including a prostate check. Then seek counseling to see if there is an underlying emotional trauma.
Viagra is generally not prescribed for men who may have heart or liver disorders. However, there are herbal remedies that have proved helpful. Go to a place that sells vitamins and supplements and ask to see their catalogs. Maybe you even get them in the mail. I can't recall the names of these products, but there are many safer alternatives to Viagra.
And finally, don't feel that you're alone with this problem. Lots of men are similarly afflicted. It's nothing to feel guilty about, either. There is help available, so don't give up. Lots of luck to you!

ok this is my stereotypical remidies for these problems, first monitor the stress intake ussually stress can cause impotency, next would be if you wear briefs switch to boxers normally the constriction cuts the blood flow therefore makeing it harder on you to get blood to that region of the body.....Other then that i know you probly tried good old porn but try and find something that is diffrent variety is key. Why the doctor doesnt want you taking viagra is due to the dependency on it...if your a younger male which your probly mid 30's maybe even early 30's you dont wanna be takeing that blue pill for the rest of your life. But like i said try the things that i mentioned out first if they dont work ask your doctor for more advice...ussually it is caused because of stress.

Discuss it in more detail with your MD. Why does he advise against Viagra? There are other similar products on the market, like levitra and cialis, that work a little differently, and have different medical cautions. I think your doctor's job goes beyond advising against something--he needs to work with you on this and help find a solution that works for you.
If that fails, he's not the only doctor in town, right?

Obviously there must be some medical counter indication for Viagra which indicates some medical problem, not matter how minor. Definitely have your GP refer you to a urologist. There are quite a few alternative treatments that can be explored.

If you're otherwise healthy, why can't you use Viagra? Either way, I'd use Cialis b/c it lasts a lot longer. Supposedly they're somewhat hard on your heart, so make sure you're not old.
