But there is a place in milltown, indiana ( way south) called The Shoe Tree and it is covered with thousands and thousands and thousands of shoes!!! no kidding! We've been going there for years and always throw an old pair in the tree, it's a landmark around there!

I always heard it was if one gang person killed another one they throw the "offed" guys shoes over the power line as a warning or trophy.

Hipi, you are partially true. It does have to do with when someone dies, but the shoes are usually the dead persons'. That is why the shoes usually come in different sizes.

When a Military unit rotates from a base some of the members would do this w/ their boots. Then the new recruit would have to remove them. It's funny! Isn't it?

Nowdays IDK. It used to be where you would see tennis shoes on the power lines you could get your goods at that point in the night. Such as drugs and "call girls". SAD but TRUE.
