you say that china is "fundamentally opposed to everything America stands for; freedom, tolerance, democracy, and human rights".... but (assuming that is the case) doesn't that mean that the us would also be fundamentally opposed to china's ideals? which would make the US "evil" according to china. and yes, there could be a US- china war. there could be a war between any 2 or more countries, all it takes is something to start it.....
this is what makes humanity a crock of sh*t - people more interested in fighting each other than getting on with saving the planet.
=edit=
and who says that what you are spouting are "facts"? this is cultural relativism at its finest - there are, by definition, few or no facts to be had in this matter. especially considering that good and evil are human labels, applied by humans to the things that other humans do.

I don't think China will challenge the US in the near future (10 -20 years). However, China is certainly aspiring to be the next super power. Look at their economic development, space program, military buildup.
However, the moment China needs more oil or any other vital resource that they feel they need for the expansion of their economy, we better watch out. Do you realize that if China continues on the path they are on they will consume all the oil that the world can produce in less than 30 years.
What do you think will happen then. Iraq, North Korea, Iran, and all the other petty enemies of the US will look like small change.

Every crime you charged China of committing the United States of America is also guilty of. Abuse human rights, the US almost completely wiped out the American Indians (i.e. genocide). The US government violated all of its treaties with the Indians. Indians were forced to live on reservations, but every time a natural resource was discovered on the land, the government would seize it and force the Indians to move to another piece of land. Do you thinks the Indians chose to live in the desert? During WWII, the US government imprisoned all Japanese people regardless of their citizenship and seized their private property. Both actions which are explicitly forbidden by the Constitution. We were at war with Japan as well as Germany but no German-Americans were imprisoned. Why?
During the early 1900's, Japan refused to trade with foreign nations including the US. The US response was to send Commodore Perry with a fleet of warships and forced Japan to open its ports to foreign nations. Commodore Perry gave Japan a choice, open its ports to foreign nations or prepare to die.
Did you know that Osama Bin Laden was trained by the US's Central Intelligence Agency (a.k.a CIA)? I am not making it up; read the newspapers. The CIA doesn't deny it helped Osama Bin Laden. Before the USSR crumbled, the Soviets where occupying neighboring nations the so called "satellite countries." Afghanistan was such a nation. There were several bands of freedom fighters who fought against Russian rule, one group was led by Bin Laden. This was the time of the "Red Scare." The US was concern about the alarming rate of countries being occupied by the USSR. The US did not want a war with Russia so they decided to support the Afghans freedom fighter. Since they were few in number and only had small arms, the CIA taught them to use guerrilla tactics. And the list goes on and on.
The US is no saint but what nation has never committed any wrongdoings? I think you should read US history before making such inflammatory accusations. Oh, BTW, I was born and raised in the US. I am a registered Republican. I am an American and proud of it but that doesn't mean I have to turn a blind eye to the misdeeds of the US government.

united statesa. has also been advance its forces, or maybe more effective, united statesa. has used its forces to INVADE overseas countries (Iraq and Afghanistan). How do you justify that? so a ways because the human rights information of China, criticism isn't a clean ingredient. China has no longer been prevalent to have a good human rights record for decades. China gained't take over Asia. it really is unfounded paranoia. also, united statesa. is prepared to compromise each and every thing it stands for even as there is income available, so the U.S. will proceed to handle China regardless of what China does internally. If developments proceed the way they're, China ought to haven't any prefer to "challenge" the U.S. as a international power, because it is going to easily surpass the U.S. no choose for conflict. Economics will instruct it.

I am from Beijing. To tell you the truth, our Chinese are friendly. I wonder why some western people always look down on Chinese. China is developing, but we won't be an evil country at all. The world will be safe. We are now having more and more high-educated people.
Finally, welcome to Beijing and other parts of China for sightseeing although you will find China may not as modern as th US and other developed countries.

Chinese physical stature is so small they could not take over anyone. Are they going to attack us on bikes? How about with hot woks? Maybe if they poison us at Panda Express. Actually, it is already poison, have you tired their BBQ pork?
