What causes cars to do that? Is their any fluid or something I can put in to stop it or should I just keep driving it! I have a 3.1 engine.

fuel pump regulator ... but when was the last time you gave it a tune up ... ie sparkplugs, wires, etc etc ... all of those can cause it ... but if you've been taking care of the car ... yeah ... fuel pump regulator

Sounds like a leaking fuel injector flooding the engine by seeping into the intake system and flooding it.
