My boyfriend is 6'2" and weighs 128 lbs. YES THAT IS VERY THIN! He wants to put weight on but can't seem to do it..or keep it on once he HAS gained weight! Dr's just tell him that he's just "lucky" to be "slender" as they put it, and won't give him any suggestions as to HOW TO PUT ON WEIGHT. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what he can do other than eat himself sick trying to gain weight? He even eats fattening take out food for breakfast and lunch...and I fix a MEAL when we get home from work each night. Nothing is putting weight on him.

Ok eating fattening foods does not neccesarily means you will gain weight. The best way to gain weight healthy is eating proteins, and lifting weights. Eating fatty foods may not give you weight but it will damage your insides. Try buying GNC weight gaiiners, tell him to hit the gym, expand his muscles, and eat a lot of egg whites.

If he is medically ok and there is no health reason why he is so thin, he probably has a body type called ectomorph, which means that he will always have difficulty putting on weight. It is the way he is made.

Eating lots of healthy calories may help a little and a weight lifting program may also help a little, though he will probably never be very heavy. Many people might recommend that he use various food supplements, but I would be careful of that unless he is very well informed about exactly what he is taking.

Some of these sites may give you both more information and some ideas about what he can try. Best of luck.

when i graduated from high school, at age 17, i weighed exactly 99 lbs. all senior year it was my hope to weigh 100 lbs. before the end of the school year. no luck.
i'm 58 years old now and weigh 138 lbs. gaining weight has been a lifelong struggle for me. I've tried fatty food, supplements, etc. About the only theraphy that helped was to get involved in weight training. I have a nutritionist and personal trainer (quite costly) who work with me on a continuous basis. I gained muscle weight; for that i'm grateful.
my gp assures me that some people are just unable to gain weight or have difficulty doing so. it's taken me 41 years to gain 39 pounds. therefore, i have accepted my weight and the fact that it might always be difficult for me to gain weight.
i do find it embarrassing when people tell me i look ill, malnourished, like a holocaust survivor, etc. they think they're being cute and funny. that's the part of wieghing 138 that gets to me. I'm not starving myself, binge eating, vomiting, etc., but i have been questioned about it. if i have any eating problem it's overeating (to no avail).
keep trying to gain more weight. try a weight training problem at a local gym and stick with the program. the growth of muscle will increase your weight. best of luck.

My father, sister and brother and many cousins have the same problem and they have all modeled ...you have to be careful, because if you eat a high fat diet..you may not gain weight but your cholesterol and fatty deposits in your arteries will increase. From seeing my relatives...I know that the only time they gain weight is when they are in a sport. I don't know why ...but the more active they are the more weight they gain. When my sister sits and studies at school for a term...she loses weight. I take after my mothers side and I gain weight no matter what I do. Good luck

He needs to eat healthy meals not just fattening. He should also drink boost or ensure with his meals to add callories. If those things taste too bad and he doesnt want to drink them, there are really good flavours of Slimfast and when you drink slimfast and still eat regular meals it will make you gain weight. He could also talk to a personal trainer about an excercise routine to bulk up without losing weight and just gain muscle mass

My first husband was very thin like that. He used to drink slim fast with his meal. The slim fast has alot of calories and stuff in it.He also ate a peanut butter sandwich every night before he went to sleep. He gained some weight, but not alot. We have been divorced 19 years and he is still thin.

Some people are just thin...no matter what they do or eat. I would stop eating the unhealthy fast food all the time. He does not want to die of a heart attack. Try peanut butter milk shakes, peanut butter sandwiches, they are good.
