Too big isn't the problem. Er, at least it isn't that simple.

The bigger a file is (and a picture is just another file), the longer it takes to download. Plus, the more storage space it takes on the receiving end.

It isn't "the Internet" that is complaining, it is a web site that has checked your jpeg picture and found it to be of unreasonable size as far as they are concerned. Since "they" are the keeper of your picture, I guess they assumed the right to be so rude as to say your picture is too big. Should have been more informative and polite!

Compression can reduce picture size many times (to one 10th the original size or more) while sacrificing little in picture quality.

"Too big" means needlessly large (in bytes, not just in width and height) for the purpose it is meant for. Jpeg is a variable-compression format, which means the jpeg picture can be compressed to make it smaller (in bytes), usually quite a bit smaller, without degrading its quality so much that it becomes "mottled", or loses detail in patterns or letters.

The thing to learn here is that you have control of both how big (width x height) and how big (bytes) your pictures are when using the jpeg format. Typically, I reduce picture sizes from megabytes to less than 200 kilobytes by reducing size in both ways. You can too. And those trying to view your pictures will thank you (maybe).

The resolution is too big to be posted on the internet, whichever service it was, was telling you the image resolution was too big. Try reducing the size to 1024 x 768 or 640 x 480. Search for PowerToy Resizer if you are using Windows XP, that will resize images automatically.

To WidowMate, the size (in bytes) of the image is directly proportional to the resolution. So either way, the issue can be solved by reducing the resolution of the image. I hope that makes sense.

What format are you saving them in? What high quality are you picking? Photoshop helps you to shop in lots of formats. Then once you shop, it oftentimes activates for the huge-unfold you will like. yet to be honest, while you're making use of two computers.. then their photographs and visual show unit might nicely be set up in any different case. that's basic that when people ought to alter computers they locate out the image is awash on a distinctive computing gadget or a distinctive visual show unit then initially. regrettably, some scanners and cameras additionally tutor a distinctive image interior their application then is considered on the information superhighway. So attempt to disguise each and every of the stairs from the very commencing up. Are you drawing this on a working laptop or computing gadget, taking a image, or a scanning artwork? that's the place it starts off. Then evaluate what number video show gadgets/displays you're observing this from. Then pass to the question of what number circumstances this photographs format adjustments.. like if I test some thing this could be a transformation, shop to a distinctive format in photoshop.. that adjustments it lower back, then if I upload to particular amenities like Photobucket.. they alter the image lower back on me.
