Would a striped dress shirt look good with a tie?

Question

For example, a white dress shirt with skinny blue stripes and the stripes are about 1-2 inches apart. I never thought strped dress shirts look good with a tie, but do you think that a white one with bue stripes would look good with a black tie? and what other colors would look cool?

The whol outfit also includes black dickies pants and black shoes

Depending on the color of pants you plan on wearing with the shirt, a blue tie would look good. Especially if the pants were blue. Black really wouldn't look as pulled together as blue. You want to go with the colors you are wearing.

Striped dress shirts look great with ties. If you are going to wear a striped shirt I would go with a solid color tie.

oh, definately you can bend the look whichever way you want to fit the occasion... I know that colors are hard to match, especially blues but it would look great if you found a plain blue tie to match the stripes and yes I think black would look fine too!

You should match the tie to the stripes!! Way better.

It should look fine. You can also wear a tie that has some abstract or patterned design on it, as long as the colors don't clash.

use a solid, dark burgundy tie, especially if the stripes on the shirt are dark blue.

nahh just don`t do it. it seems so dorky especially if youre a girl. that whole girls with tie's thing is so old.
