they wouldn't let me because my iron level was 2 points below normal. Could there be something else wrong?

From the little I know, iron reflects the type of diet you have (at least to a degree). So, you can increase your iron through eating more meats and even some vegetables (not all vegetables are created equal when it comes to iron)- the meats are especially important since red meat has more iron in it.
If you eat a fair amount of these types of food, then maybe you do want to consult a doctor. You might want to consult a doctor either way, actually, but if the people at the Blood Donation Center didn't seem overly worried, I don't think you're in immediate danger or anything like that.

No, there is not necessarily anything wrong. The Red Cross establishes that minimum iron level, so that donors with lower iron levels than that don't get temporarily anemic after giving blood. Plus if you try and donate during or right after your period, your iron levels will be lower than they normally are.

Some people just have lower iron levels but they're not anemic. I try to donate blood as often as I'm eligible but had been getting turned away b/c my iron was lower than their threshold. I started eating more spinach & leafy greens, and more red meat before trying to donate again and it was STILL too low. So now I take "stomach friendly" iron supplements in addition to my regular multivitamin, and presto...last time I went to donate, my iron levels were just high enough. Oh yeah, and I still eat lots of green veggies but not so much red meat.

Probably nothing to be concerned about. Google symptoms for anemia and see if you have any of them. If you're really worried, go see your doctor.

I had that problem once. I had not eatten a very good breakfast before I went in to donate blood, so my iron levels were a little low, it is nothing to freak out over. Your levels can change based on what you eat and do throughout the day.

Well, there could but they only test for iron, so you would need a CBC , complete blood count. Whoever you go to for your anemia will run all the usual tests. In the mean time, take iron supplements, or eat foods rich in iron.

you could be aneomic, or you could have just had a crappy diet for a while before you went. Try taking an iron supplement, and eat lots of green leafy veggies and other food with lots of iron. See your doc tho and get a proper test tho to see if you're ok otherwise.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to see your physician. You need to bring up your iron level and you could have other issues going on. I strongly suggest you see your physician for a routine checkup and be sure to let him/her know about the iron level.

Iron defeciency could lead to anemia !!
Do consult a physician or try taking supplements to take a blood test again for verifying.

If result is still down - better go down to ur physician.

They suspect you have anemia. They won't take blood from anemic people because it might hurt them.
