It sounds like you had a really, really heavy period. If your iron was low to begin with and THEN you had your period, it's possible that's why you were feeling a little light-headed. When your period is over, you might want to get your blood checked, just to see - anemia is VERY common in menstruating women, and very treatable.

Anytime there is a sudden loss of blood from the body there is the change of bloodpressure dropping suddenly as well. When this happens it will cause you to become nauseaous or even dizzy. Just like when you rise up to fast. Clots are sometimes caused from blood being to thick. Ask your Dr. about taking an aspirin a day. Maybe this will help. Good Luck and God Bless...

This happened to me. My periods where always heavy and I have been anemic since I started. I took iron pills for years. About 5 years ago it got so bad I almost passed out at work. My hubby came and got me and drove me to the hospital. I was bleeding so much they gave me depo prevera and I have been on it since then. I get a shot every 3 months and don't have a period anymore. Now I am no longer anemic. I can even give blood now!

If you are talking past tense, wait and see what happens, it sounds like you were Iron deficient, If you eat meat try to eat 2 servings of red meat (lean) a week, like hamburgers etc. You could also have had some anxiety adding to the situation. Unless it continues or there could have been a pregnancy I would adjust my diet, take a multivitamin with Iron. watch and see, if it happens again you should talk to a doctor.

It could be something minor or it could be something serious. It sounds like you may need to see a doc. For example, you might need to have a D & C which is a fairly simple a procedure.

These sites will give you more information and may help you decide what you need to do. Best of luck.

I think you were probably going to pass out because of low iron levels. You should really go to a doctor and tell him your symptoms. He will probably recommend iron supplements if you tend to lose a lot of blood.

In the mean time, eat some spinach and liver. They are both high in iron. Feel better soon.

Might want to talk to your doctor about it. You may be anemic and the loss of blood is affecting you. Are you eating good foods while you are on your period and taking a multivitamin? Be sure and talk to your doctor.
