I know a formula, that works, that is divide by two and add 36 and I can't remember if this is to go from degrees F to degrees C or degrees C to degrees F. Can anyone help me?

Sorry, I meant add 32, not 36. I'm pretty tired. Easy typing error, sorry.

why don't you try it on something that you know and see what works

for instance, you know that 0 C is the same as 32 F

so, try it out

also, 100 C is 212 F, right?

I don't think your formula is exactly right going either way

Actually you want to multiply by 1.8 and add 32 to go from C to F

and, conversely, subtract 32 then divide by 1.8 going from F to C

Technically,
Fahrenheit = (C+32)*(9/5)

Celsius = (F-32)*(5/9)

but 5/9 is close to 5/10, with is the same as dividing by two.

F to C:
subtract 32, multiply by 5, divide by 9

C to F:
multiply by 9, divide by 5, add 32

rapid thank you to do on your head. 26 x 2 + 32. is 80 4 yet could desire to divide 26 by 5 = 5. 5 from 86 = 80 one. info: all of us comprehend that sixteen is sixty one. and 28 is 80 two. (the only 2 numbers that opposite.) sixteen x 2 + 32 = sixty 4 5 into sixteen thrice. sixty 4-3 = sixty one. 28 x 2 + 32 = 88 5 into 28 greater or less 6 88-6 = 80 two. no longer completely precise, yet much less annoying than doing fractions on your head.

What you remembered is incorrect.

To find celsius, C = 5/9 (F-32)

To find fahrenheit, F = 9/5 (C+32)
