that's BS, if their were a group for the advancement of white people they would call it racism. I am f_ing sick of the double standard in this country.

Well, if they changed the C and P around and made it NAAPC instead of NAACP it could stand for National Association for People of Color, which I understand is a more 'politically correct' term today than way back when they started, when 'colored people' was more polite than '*****'.
To me the term 'african americans' isn't really correct either because few peopole of color are actually from africa anymore, having been born here for generations, and being just as american as anyone else. It's a sensitive issue, but I don't think it should be, we are all "colored" for heaven's sake, humanity comes in a rainbow of colors.

Well, if it were the "National Association for the Advancement of African Americans" it would have a really really bad acronym. So maybe staying with "Colored People" is the lesser of two evils.

I think they accomplished great things and fought for freedom for all humans. I have to say however I'm sick of race and any society that separated itself or only seeks to advance people on the basis of there race is itself racist. Any human who describes himself as a Black man or a white man is a racist they base who they are on the color of there skin this is racist . Until humans identify themselves as human we will have racism. They allow the basic problem to continue by separating themselves. They promote racism and they don't even know it they cant be compared to the KKK though but still a society based on race and they have that in common.

yes...they only seem to be interested in "liberal" causes, so I think they should change their name to the National Association for the Advancement of LIBERAL Colored People...NAALCP. I think there would be more truth in advertising here....don't YOU?

Well, it's looked down upon now, but when they chose the name for their organization in 1909, it was much more accepted among the black population.

No, but they shouldn't complain about anyone else being politically incorrect.

This should be a choice made by people of color, not those who are trying to cause problems.

I suggested "National Association of Uppity *******", but for some reason they found that offensive.
