I lived for awhile where it WAS legal - Alaska - and I didn't toke no joints then nor would I now that I live in New York state. See, I just don't need it. Nobody does. As a nurse, you've heard people claim that it's often the only thing that relieves the nausea and discomfort associated with chemotherapy. That simply isn't true, as we both know (I'm an RN) because effective and legal medications can be given by hypodermic injection or by rectal suppository. There really is NO good reason to legalize marijuana - there're too doggone many intoxicants out there being misused now, fer pete's sake!
One additional thing none of the previous replies took into consideration - the same problem exists with maryjane as with tobacco - the smoke of weed contains as many poisonous tars as does tobacco - and as you know, it's the tars that cause lung cancer as well as cancer of the mouth, esophagus, stomach, liver, kidneys, bladder... Safer than cigarettes? No it ain't...

Actually it is legal in the Netherlands now. They have less of a drug problem because it is legal. (they do have a drug problem but it is with heroin not pot.) Yes I would smoke it if it was legal. When I go to the Netherlands I do now.

It is far less harmful than regular cigarettes which if pot was legal I might even give up. I would probably also grow my own to avoid over processing/additives they inevitably add to things they market.

Probably not. Even though many people see it as a "safe drug" .. there are noticiable long term affects on the brain. (This has been shown to be true by CAT scans of the brain ). Also, even though they say it is not physically addictive .. I have my doubts. I know someone who started using it over 30 years ago .. and still needs to smoke it at least 2x a day .. does it matter if it is physical or a mental addiction ? . .Not to me .. who wants to be addicted to anything ? .. No thanks.

Personally I wouldn't smoke just because how it effects your health and the way you act. Know what, I think the reason why a lot of people smoke it, is just the fact that it is illegal and it is popular among the rap scene and culture.

It wouldn't matter if it is legal or not. Changing the laws so that an employer cannot violate your right to privacy (blood and urine is pretty private IMHO).

yes, i would smoke it. but i wouldn't abuse it. just because it's legal doesn't change it from being a drug (like alcohol). i would use it responsibilty and not flaunt it or make it seem 'cool' (especially in front of teens and youngsters), just like cigarettes. honestly, legalization might help. it would help keep drug dealers (that sell other drugs i disapprove of) from making money selling marijuana.
