I mean since the country I'm calling may very well have there own monitoring equipment.

well if you aren't planning to commit a crime does it really matter if someone hears what you say?

Everyone who makes a phone call takes the risk that the person on the other end is wired or otherwise will report what was said to the government. I suppose it is likewise a risk that the foreign government may not have similar privacy rights for its own citizens as our Constitution confers unto us as Americans. However, the Constitution does guarantee all Americans the right to privacy from American government intrusion.

So to that extent, you had a reasonable expectation of privacy from the government listening in on your private international phone calls without a warrant, even though you did not have a reasonable expectation of privacy from others listening.

You did against US government monitoring, under federal law.

Read 50 U.S.C. §1801 et al. Warrantless wiretapping is illegal if anyone US citizen or resident alien is a party to the conversation.

No, you have no expectation of privacy, the US has for years and years monitered these calls, often from off shore and other nations, but the other nations are not bound by our laws

No. All overseas calls are taped by the US government. They (the govt.) has a facility in Virginia where they tape the calls.
