Ok, I'll be the odd one and say I do fear the reaper. Being dead is not something I like to consider and when I do it scares the hell out of me. There have got to be a million versions of what comes next and not a single one of them makes sense, or makes me feel better. If you could guarantee me that the afterlife was one big seafood buffet then perhaps the fear would pass, anything short of that and no dice.

Death is an awsome thing. I used to be almost MAD at my parents for giving birth to me, knowing someday I would have to suffer and die. I was scared of it. Now, nearing almost 50, my perspective has changed. Funny how age will do that! :)) Now, I see it more as a rebirthing process in the spiritual realm. It will be a marvelous and wonderful adventure, of that I am sure. I think what scares us the most is the DYING part, not the being DEAD part. We do not want pain, suffering, fear, and sorrow. We fear these things. Take it from me, for the majority of us, it will be an easy slip from here to there. For others, it may be more painful and more suffering while conscious. One thing for sure, if you have failed at many things, you will not mess up death. It works all by itself.
Peace comes from being PREPARED to accept whatever you have earned on the other side. You must be prepared to meet your creator. Best to consult HIM and HIS words for preparation advice.

I'm not prepared to think that the fear of death bothers me more than I wish to admit............cause I'm not afraid to die. I don't want to.....got some good things going on........but I'm not afraid of it happening! Death is just another change........a metamorphasis of spirit. But I'm not quite ready to go yet....

No, because I know what comes next and that's going to be wonderful. Oh, it might hurt for a little while actually getting from here to there, but it'll be worth it.
Assurance of one's salvation is a wonderful thing, and is not arrogant. No one can save himself, it has to be done for us. That's why being sure of it isn't arrogant at all. I trust the One Who did it.
