Read the FAQ, a new tab will first display Yahoo! Search. That's the price you pay for tab browsing with Yahoo! toolbar. This is what Yahoo! had to say:

"Why do I see Yahoo! Search when I add a new tab?

Browsers with tabs must display a page when a user adds a new tab.

When you add a tab during the Yahoo! Toolbar implementation, we send you to the fastest Yahoo! page, which is search.yahoo.com.

In our testing, we found this feature to be quite helpful.

If you use this feature and would like to comment on it, please send us your feedback by clicking here." -- yahoo.com
