I did, but all I ever ended up doing was make cheesy Applesoft BASIC games. And that was 20 years ago.

Oh well...

Yes, I actually did. I did the original coding for an old game called Silent Service. It sold many copies, but the rip off artists and copyright violators saw to it that I didn't recoup my losses. One game, that is all I could afford to do. I left the business, it took me 3 years to recoup the loss with a salaried job.

Yeah. I had this idea that was going to make me a millionaire, but I had to learn programming first, so I made a game called "Numero Who Knows?" a number guessing game that opens in a real real full screen with Win32 API.

After that I tried to make a Tetris clone. I thought it would be easy, but boy was I wrong! I finally had to accept that my big game idea was just too much for me to do without a team of mentors to help me.

The idea was a game that utilizes a real-time spell system where you control various elements during casting the spell, and you gain bits of knowledge as you go along to use in your spellcasting. I actually put together a grimoire (book of spellcasting theory), which got into deep metaphysical stuff. I wanted the player to feel like he was delving deep into an arcane world of knowledge and truly gaining an understanding and skill in the art of magic.

If I had a spare 20 million dollars and could recruit some top industry guys I would probably still do it. It would be called : "Forbidden Knowledge" I had a cool plot and a whole universe mapped out that the game would take place in. I loved the idea so much that I spent years planning and developing the design. I might try to sell the idea to a company. Who knows.

Yep. I usually stop after a while because of a lack of interest or other barriers. But I'm going to make a new arcade game soon (with a good gfx artist) so we'll see where that ends ...

Yes when games were still 2D side-scrolls, and every package is fun; now they say the market is saturated with techy coders only good few designers (think how shallow most are now) that leave me deflated.
