I think music in all forms can have a positive affect on society. Though some music, such as those showing drug abuse, murder, rape, and doing physical harm to others in a positive light can influence young children to see that as the "cool" thing to do. I fully believe in freedom of speech, but I do believe that parents need to teach their children what is right and wrong and explain to them not to be influenced by certain media. Mostly, hard core rap and some rock and metal as far as music goes. All in all, music makes people happy, hence the positive influence.

Depends largely on the song in question. Music as a whole I believe is good for society, in large part because it allows us to express ourselves. We are the music we listen to.
As for huge happenings well...Some people in the White House are mad because people are beginning to sing the national anthem in Spanish. I don't really care about that, personally, because in the end it is always going to be just a song.

it can be both
it depends on the mind state of the listener as to what emotions it draws out
ultimately it's good, though some of it can be misleading to the young and naive-who hear only what they want to hear
most musicians have something interesting, poetic or political to say, which expands peoples scope on life

Rap- Talks about screwing your mom, screwing girls, screwing chickens, doing drugs, shooting people, dealing drugs, drinking and driving, doing drugs while raping your mother, etc. Its gay, it belongs in the **** bin. Rock and Roll will always be better.
