QuickTime, in my experience, is a less stable video player under Windows. However, WMV files cannot be viewed in any operating system other than Windows, limiting the audience. I would suggest simple .MPEG files; although both WMV and QuickTime work slightly better, MPEG2 format is good enough for most purposes and, most importantly, compatible with almost any video players- so you can find one that's stable. Apple's authoring tools (which are some of the best content creation tools available) are superior to most other suites, however, and it tends to create QuickTime files- because Apple as a company would rather lock users in to rely on its products.
So in conclusion, "neither". Of the two, I prefer .WMV because it works on my media player and it tends to result in higher quality video at a lower bitrate- although that, of course, varies by the video because compression is like that.

yeah.. i vote QuickTime too but RealPlayer is really really good as well.. :]
