1- If more than a week, you have to take baby to the doctor.
2- For the diaper rash I use Desitin, it stays better on skin. Change diaper as soon as it gets soiled. DO NOT USE BABY WIPES, even if they're the sensitive type. Use water to clean baby or lightly wash the wipe with water first, to take off the chemicals (they will irritate and sting the open skin). Then pat dry with towel and apply desitin. Be more careful at night, don't leave wet diaper on for too long.
3- After the doctor has seen your baby, he'll probably give you a different diet to give your baby for the following 24-48 hours.
4- DON'T GIVE MILK, FORMULA OR OTHERWISE for 24 hours. Only breastmilk or pedialyte. That will help baby's stomach.
NO APPLE JUICE either= it will make the diarrhea worse.
If you want, you can try feeding the baby a slightly thick rice porridge (popular old grandma's advice). You make it by boiling 3 cups water with 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, then adding 1 cup plain rice. Boil until it gets mushy and the liquid is thick. Check often and add more water as needed. When it's ready, you can add a little sugar to sweeten. If baby won't eat it, you can always put it in the blender with a little more water to make it into a drink for baby. This has worked wonders to stop the diarrhea and help stomach digest better.

Yes, use monistat. I know it sounds a little off, but it actually works better than A&D ointment. My son had that same thing happen to him when he was 4 months old. So i made him pedialyte pops 5 times daily for two days, and vitamins. And every time diaper change (1 once every two hours) i put a thin layer of monistat 7 on him and then then a small layer of antibacterial ointment. Was cleared in the two days. And no scars. No juice or milk of any kind, only water or pedialyte and jello, and soup / viatmins to eat. DO NOT use baking soda for any type of rash in water or dry. This will actually burn those sores and make the baby cry.

Call your pediatrician immediately.
It sounds like your son's diaper rash has gone beyond a simple desitin cure. Tell your ped about the sores, about the diarrhea, about his appetite loss. Pick up some Pedialyte or some LiquiLytes (Gerber's version of Pedialyte, it's supposed to have a more appealing taste). It sounds like your son needs to replenish vital fluids and those products will help with that.
Be honest with your ped! Diaper rash is something that happens to most babies at one time or another. Sometimes, though, a rash will need to be tended to by a doctor, and you're having one of those times.
Call your son's pediatrician now. If this is after business hours you will be directed to an emergency number or a call service. Leave a message and be honest about the state of your son.
Stop using any product on your son's tush. At this point they will probably only make his condition worse.
Your baby needs to be tended to by a doctor as soon as possible. Open sores mean infection. Call... NOW!
Honestly, if it were my baby that had a rash that bad, I would be on my way to the emergency room to have her seen.
Good luck and I hope your little one feels better soon.

Teething always does this. The rash is actually a yeast infection which can be cured with an anti-fungal cream. Do not use diaper rash cream!
You see, what happens is when babies teeth, their stool gets very acidic which kills the bacteria on the skin and leave the yeast to manifest.
The sores are very painful, they begin looking like a rash and then they bubble up and explode into a bloody mess.
I have 7 children. This happened to all the children who had sensitive skin. Not all children have sensitive skin.
Go to the drug store and get anti-fungal cream, the best is always deals with athlete's foot, I just can't remember the name.

Part 1: When my son was about this age, he got giardia (sp?), which is a food and water borne illess that we actually suspect he got through my breastmilk (I had a terrible stomach thing too.)
You may want his ped. to do a stool sample. (don't worry...it's not a dangerous illness as long as it's monitored.) The most important thing for babies and adults with diarrhea is fluids, fluids, fluids. As long as he is wetting his diapers (with pee) regularly, he is not dehydrated.
Part 2: When my son was born, we had this very down to earth, granola dr from Vermont. He said the best thing for diaper rash is straight petroleum jelly. We thought he was off his rocker till we tried it. It was like a miracle! I think it forms a barrier from the moisture so the skin can heal.
If this doesn't do it, have it checked out. Babies can get a fungus that looks like diaper rash but won't go away w/out medication. The circles you describe sounds like diaper rash though.

My baby is 6 and a half months old and he hasn't been eating the way he used to his doctor said it could be the heat but not to worry as long as he is still nursing than he is fine.
To the diaper rash get AQUAFORE it is in the lotion aisle it works really really good. Instead of using the 2 different diaper rash creams just the AQUAFORE will cure it in 1-2 diaper changes. It works so good I love that stuff.

Sounds like possible teething or maybe a virus. I recommend putting him in a warm bath with some baking soda. That will help calm the rash and help the healing. Also, we have always used Triple Paste because it's like a miracle cure. If none of that works, get the rash checked by the doctor because certain rashes require prescription meds. There are two kinds. One is a yeast infection and I don't remember what the other kind is called.

Your son could be teething and that might be what is causing the problem! Second for your diaper rash, I know it sounds really odd, but if you but plain white flour in a frying pan and brown it, then put it into a shaker jar, use it like you would talcum powder, it goes away almost overnight! It is amazing stuff! My Great-Grandmother recommended this to me when my daughter got a really bad flu. Sometimes the older remedies work the best!

Take him to the dr right away. My daughter's diaper rash got so bad,it actually BLED ,she was allergic to alot of things. The dr can give you a prescription for the rash, and also address the diarrhea. In the meantime, try A & D ointment on the rash, and switch to using a light hypoallergenic soap and a washcloth to wash him with after.Try not to rub too hard, and pat,not rub dry

I use Bag Balm, can be found at Walmart in the pharmacy section. It works great! (green square container) My neices had the same problem. As to the first part of the question... Have you changed his diet? Did you give him something new to his diet? A new fruit? A new veggie? Might be best to go back to one food for a few days.. then try another... then another to see if you can figure out what is causing this. My neices had it with Juices... everytime they'd drink juice it would break them out. You might water things down too. That helped us. Good luck
