gosh im thirteen in hs too i know how you feel..its hard to talk to people sometimes i kinda think they judge me when they first see me. you know its hard to talk to people when you dont know them that well. last year i hung around with seven other people and i never said anything at all, i was always quiet and it was weird...people never talked to me and it was no fun at all. and as much as i wanted to speak up, i could never find the courage to do it. you just have to have some self-confidence...its a start. this year i only hang around with a couple of people but im getting better at talking and its helping me out a lot. but just remember to be yourself...you could be like really popular and stuff because ur probably like an awesome person. but..good luck. i hope things work out for you. :)

Just a little advice, I am a senior in high school and I think you just have to put yourself out here and have some confidence about yourself. Don't be to self-conscious. I kind of think its bad that you don't have social skills at your age now, but like I said have confidence about yourself and just be you. Don't try to come of as someone your not!

OMG, I have no idea. I'm a really shy person but with family, I'm so myself. So I just started acting as if they were family, y'know, getting comfortable around them like that and just being myself. Eventually ppl will feel comfortable around you and start talking to you. I know more ppl now and more ppl know me and I've made some friends I can relate to and have fun with too.
So.... just be yourself, let loose. When you want to say something, just say it!! But y'know... don't be rude.

You need to start hanging around a group of kids that are interested in something you are interested in. That is the icebreaker. For instance, if you are interested in comic books...then start hanging around the comic store. My kids are constantly running into friends there.
