where can I find a chat room for my 9 year old son thats safe?

I doubt there is one, maybe it's better you don't let him go into chat rooms. 9 yrs. old is still kind of young. I didn't go to one until I was 13 and I'd been using the internet since I was 7! If he wants to socialize, let him call up a friend or bring a friend over.

Um...and don't try AOL, the chat rooms there are horrible.

There's no such thing as a safe chat room. No matter what chat room youre in there will be knuckleheads who will try to send viruses and spyware and all that other nonsense. My suggestion is that you download AOL instant messenger , it has a feature where you can invite any amount of friends on your buddy list into one chatroom. Noone he doesnot know will join except for his friends friends

Adults can enter any chatroom and pose as a child. You have to sit next to your child as long as he is on the computer, if you want to make sure he is safe! Adults can pose as a 9 year old and you won't know if he is is an 55 year old man around the corner or in another state or country.

It is up to you, the parent, to keep your child safe.

I think 9yrs old is a bit young to be chatting it up on the net. He should be socializing with kids at his school or kids from sporting teams that he is on. I guess there are things out there for kids - maybe try aol.

Depending on what Provider you are using, you may be able to set up an addl email acct for free that will allow an age restriction choice. This will keep him from accessing any sites that are not appropriate for ages <18. Although, that deosn't keep the perverts away. He should be on www.pbs.com or something.
