Do you know any web sites or just some questions I should ask myself so I can find the right career for me. I'm planning to go to college, but I don't have a clue about what I'm planning to study.

A lot of colleges have a test you can take, similar to an aptitude and interest test. I have a friend who worked in a billing office and hated it. She went and took the test, and went back to school, and now has a job she loves. I think it was around $50.00, and took about 4 hours. She said it was an interesting test and it was fun, not hard at all. It seemed to work for her. She took it at a local community college, and then the tester/councelor went over it and suggested fields of study, options, requirements, etc. Good luck!

The thing that helped me most was one question: what is the one thing you enjoy doing so much, that -- if you could figure out how to afford to -- you'd do this whether or not you got paid for it and the salary would just be icing on the cake. I didn't think such a job existed, but later found that it did. I've been with that job for over 20 years now and am still fulfilled by it. I may not earn a whole lot of money, but this truly is the right job for me.

You may have to get creative in your thinking, of course. Find a couple of things you really enjoy and see what job sectors they may lead to. If you love theatre but want a steady job, think about backstage work or admin work in the theatre world. If you love animals, think about a vet or a groomer or even a professional dog-walker! Be creative. (If you're Christian, definitely pray about it but don't assume every thought you have while praying is from God. Test it and see, like the Bible says to do.)

Most colleges offer an 'undecided' major for the first semester or two. They usually also offer an overview of different career sectors. See if such a class is available, and take it as soon as it's offered. These can be a big help. You'll get out of anything only what you put into it, however.

follow your heart and go with something that you already have an interest in. that'll make doing the job for the next 45-50 years that much more tolerable. good luck with your decision, you've got a long future ahead.

Think of where you would like to be 20 years from now. Then think of what major would make the most sense to achieve that goal.

Its ok, many people dont know what they want. Maybe talk to someone who you think has an interesting job, they might give you an insider's view.
