nice question... i think these NBA players are very self-centered.. they should accept the fact that other countries are doing their best to be able to match with their talent... we are already in the new milllenium and other national teams are really improving their style of play.... basketball is not about fame... its about game

I agree we are getting beat. The world plays as a cohesive team. All these teams that we are up against Germany, greece and Lithuania and all those European teams all play each other, These same group of guys. The Americans don't we have our own league where each player from the team is dominating. Now all these individuals come together, and for them to go and pass it to five more guys is hard, and chemistry builds with practise. in actual chemistry the science you can't do it without practise. So therefore you must have guys that understand the game and ahve great chemistry. The dream team didn't really have the BEST chemistry but it had great Fit beacuse all those individuals that played and understood the game very well. And you also had players that were somewhat together in some teams. Jordan pippen, karl and Stockton. So you have these duos who played with each other. Here's why I don't agree with having college players, I think they are too young, and i believe its a slap in the face for those basketball ggreats that we do have. Ur underestimating the strengths of team USA. They are also not FIT with the professionals tat are on the team. Keep in mind we hadn't lost a single game cept this one. And nine times out of ten we will beat Greece. But wtch when or if this grp the same at least 6-7 guys come together nrxt tiem, The gold is likely to be ours. There is also this x-factor. Americans play on a higher hoop, different shooting distances and umm overall some rules. These guys allplay by the FIBA rules. Now personally i like NBA rules becuase were so used to it. All those three pointers Greece shot Most of them were long two pointers in the American thing. If they playd on our system its tougher, and yeah ur thinkin it shold b easier for us But im saying it can b a reason, why sometimes ur shot doesn't drop or wut not. But yeah we have to agree that the world basketball tournes aren't dominated by the Americans.

A person who does not know much about the other countries probably would not be able to accept it, but I knew the US would have a tough time against Greece. Greece has been together for 5 years and play extremely well together. The US had the youngest team in the tournament, so you kind of expect them to lose some time. Also, many people are shocked because the team consisted of James, Wade, and Anthony, but again, they are all like 23 years old or younger.

Some Americans can accept it. I know I can. Lebron and Wade are a couple of the best NBA players, but they dominate in the American style of play. Our style of play is condusive to players that penetrate and get to the basket. That's what Lebron and Wade do. In FIBA ball, they are fairly average b/c neither of them are good shooters. If Lebron, Wade & Melo were unknown to you before seeing them play in this tourney, you would walk away thinking Melo was the best of the three. Even in their attempts to field a good FIBA team, I think USA Basketball got caught up in the name game. They didn't want to offend the future torch bearers of the league by cutting them, but in reality, Bruce Bowen, Gilbert Arenas, or Adam Morrison would have been better suited to play in Japan than either Lebron or Wade.

I happen to be an American and I can except it, as well as a lot of others. Maybe the young generation can't, but seems to me they have trouble coping with a lot of things. I guess I did also, when I was a young man. As for the hockey guy he is dreaming. It doesn't get world wide TV coverage very much. As for the inventor of basketball being a Canadian good for him, actually who cares?? It is the game that counts, not where the person is from.

People still expect to have what happened with the first Dream Team to happen, that the USA will send 12 all-stars who can just do their thing against a bunch of teams that don't have anywhere near the skill level of the USA, and just cruise to blowout wins in games where the US doesn't even need to call timeouts and everyone else just stands around in awe of the superstars.
In short, a lot of people feel the US is entitled to win.

The syndrome of superpower!
Greeks have "discover" thinking, philosophy, sciences, arts, love, etc.! They taught it worldwide and they know that there are institutions and individuals doing a good job, they appreciate and promote it!
Americans, since they are newly born, as a country, they can not understand that they could be cooperating and be on the top with others. Further, the top is higher if there is cooperation!

Well, the first respondee is a nitwit. Americans invented basketball, namely Naismith.
But, I don't really have a problem with people from other countries beating our players, especially a bunch of spoiled rotten NBAers.

The number of foreign born players in the NBA are increasing. That goes to show that the standard outside the US is improving all the time.

A lot of Greece's team grew up wanting to be like Mike or Magic or Bird.
Now, they have grown up and defeated the heirs to those legends. Goes to show that the heirs to those legends couldn't hold a candle to Mike, Magic and Bird.
