I agree with the previous answers.

just one note: check your visa and passport. Also, if you are planning to drive a car when you come to Greece, make sure to check if your current driving license covers you or you need an international one.

Enjoy your stay in Greece.

The question is generic and difficult to answer but I will give it a try...

1. Weather. In the south of Greece, for example in Crete, the weather is warm and dry in the summer. Winters are quite mild here with an average temperature of 15 degrees (Celsius) during daytime.
In northern Greece, summer is warm but there are occasional showers and it can get very cold in the winter with a lot of snow. The lowest temperature ever recorded in Greece is - 37 degrees (Celsius).

2. The Euro is equal to 1.22 dollars. Greece is dependent from agriculture and tourism and imports most of industrial products.

3. There is no English language barrier in the tourist areas, as most people speak enough English to help tourists.

4. Greece welcomes all tourists from any country. We do not always approve the politics of USA, but that does not affect our relationship with American people. As long as they will respect us, we will respect them.

5. Best places to live in Greece? I would say Athens for those who want to live in a big city. There are many foreigners moving to Greece the last few years and most of them choose the island of Crete for its weather and beauty.

6. Islands of Greece: Crete, Mykonos, Santorini, Paros, Naxos, Milos, Rhodes, Kos, Samos, Chios, Lesvos, Evoia, Aegina, Spetses, Hydra, Kephalonia, Corfu, Zakynthos, Lefkada, Ithaca, Gavdos (the most southern border of Europe) and a lot more...

Have been to Greece four times.
The weather is similar to California.
Greece is less expensive than other EU countries.
Approximately 80,000 US citizens live in Greece. There is
some political antagonism against the US but I have never
encountered any ill will or behavior.
I've been all over Greece and anywhere you go is nice.
But I like Athens and the Aegean Islands, especially Kos and
Kalymnos. Kos is a lot more expensive than Kalymnos. Both
have wonderful beaches, great food, lots of fun nightlife.

Greece

Republic in southeastern Europe on the southern part of the Balkan Peninsula. Its capital and largest city is Athens.

# Greece is a member of NATO.
# Ancient Greek culture, particularly as developed in Athens, was the principal source of Western civilization.
# Tension and fighting between Greece and Turkey has continued for hundreds of years.
# It is known for its production of grapes, olives, and olive oil.

Greece, (Greek: Ελλάδα, Elláda (IPA: [e̞ˈlaða]), or Ελλάς, Ellás (IPA: [e̞ˈlas])), officially the Hellenic Republic (Ελληνική Δημοκρατία, Ellinikí Dimokratía), is a country in southern Europe, situated on the southern end of the Balkan peninsula. It is bordered by Bulgaria, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Albania to the north and by Turkey to the east. The Aegean Sea lies to the east of mainland Greece while the Ionian Sea lies to the west. Both, parts of the eastern Mediterranean basin, feature a vast number of islands.

Regarded as the cradle of western civilization and being the birthplace of democracy, philosophy, the Olympic Games and of the arts and drama including both tragedy and comedy, Greece has a very long and remarkably rich history during which its culture has proven to be especially influential in Europe, Northern Africa and the Middle East. Today, Greece is a developed nation, member of the European Union since 1981 and a member of the Eurozone since 2001.

Ellinika!

Weather - always warm/hot at least 300 of the 365 days of the year. Its bearable, not like sweating to death.

economy - uses money euro and is either very poor or very expensive depends where you are.

English - a lot of them know English but speak Greek, they enjoy when you use simple Greek words, it makes them very happy you are speaking their language.

They are very friendly and helpful people unless you owe them a fish and forgot to give it to them :)

Best places to live - depends on your style, do you want views, loud or quiet and subdued, busy...

Grecian islands - are great!
