Most have an automatic cut-off when the heat is hight. There are flat lap top coolers that can be bought from places like cyberGuys.com and others. They go under your lap top.

It sounds like your laptop is overheating. Both desktops and laptops will shut down if the internal temperature becomes too hot. You mentioned that, until recently, the laptop was working fine. That being the case, something has changed for your laptop to be overheating. Try the simple things first. Make sure nothing is blocking the air vents. Try to use the laptop in an airconditioned room or somewhere cool.

Next, check if the laptop's fans are working properly. I recommend you download and use a freeware called "Lavalys Everest home edition." Everest is a utility which takes an inventory of all the hardware installed on your computer. In addition, it can monitor the CPU and motherboard temperatures in real time. Everest also monitors your fan speed in real time as well. You can download the freeware at:

If your fans are working properly then you can set the fans to turn on at a lower temperature. Having the fan turn on sooner will help avoid overheating the computer. To change the settings, you will need to use another freeware called "SpeedFan." Like Everest, SpeedFan can monitor the computer's temperature in real time. But, it can also adjust the fan's setting. You can download it at:

Try these steps and see if it resolves your problem. If you need more information then just drop me a line. If your fan isn't working then you need to take it to an authorized dealer to have it repair. Remember, if your laptop is still under warranty, using an unauthorized dealer will void the warranty.

Internal fan is broken. There is a temperature sensor inside designed to turn it off when it overheats rather than cooking it.
Clean any crud out of the vents and make sure the fan works. Should run all the time when the laptop is on but may be too quiet to hears. Feel around the edges when it's on for a warm wind.

It has a heat sensor to protect your processor, that is what is turning your laptop off. If this is a new laptop, is it possible that you are frequently using it on soft surfaces or in areas where it can't get proper ventilation (most laptops are actually raised a little with vents underneath). This is a pretty common mistake, to sit with them on a carpeted floor or in an area where they can easily overheat. Hope you can find your problem pretty easily!

A computer can turn off for a lot of reasons. You're probably having one of the following problems:

1) There's a lot of viruses these days that shut down your computer at random moments. Check for viruses.
2) You're computer gets overheated. When it gets overheated, your computer shuts down as a security measure (there's a critical temperature built in in your computer).

Solutions:
1) Get a virus scanner.
2) Try removing the battery and plugging in the laptop. If that helps, buy a new battery. If that doesn't do anything, you're probably going to have to go to a repair store.

The 80 Degrees celcius thing is wrong...most computer hardware is to hot at 65 degrees in a desktop...so in a laptop that is extremly harmful and dangerous

The main thing to keep the temp down is to use them on smooth flat surfaces such as a table...or counter...and a lap can work as well...but DON'T use them on carpets or padded areas that have little to no ventilation
