I have a temper and I carry heat. I am scared I might do something some day. How do I stop being so angry and how do I convince myself that I do not need a gun?

You probably should seek counseling. You probably should go to a licensed gun dealer and sell your gun.

I don't need a gun. Ask around, I bet your friends don't need on either.

Yeah, you are probably packing because you are angry.

Are you old enough to carry legally? Are you regularly in situations where you might need to use deadly force for self-defense?

If you are terrified of being attacked, maybe the gun is the right thing. I suspect thats not the case. You will get in really serious trouble if you are carrying a concealed weapon without a license to carry. In most states, if you are over 21 and go through brief training, and submit fingerprints and background check, you can legally carry a concealed handgun with that license and a picture ID. I have legally carried an H&K P7 for the last 10 years.
I have also, prior to getting the P7--the safest gun ever made, had several accidental discharge incidents. By never pointing the guns in an unsafe direction, I have been lucky.

You really need firearms training, even if you have been around alot of guns. There are things regarding the safety and legality that you must know if you are going to own a gun.

A handgun is the only deadly weapon a civilian is allowed to carry with a permit. No big-blade knives! They will take your gun, and after having been charged with carrying a piece without a license, you'll never be able to do so legally.

If you are over 21, you can carry concealed in most states without a permit, if you are on your own property. You can usually carry unconcealed as long as a reasonable person would not find it intimidating.

Regardless, know your gun!! I was at the UNC whenever a tragic accident happened in 1994. A frat boy had just bought a new glock .40 cal (don't know the model). He had cleared the magazine, but there was a round in the chamber. Drunk, he pointed the gun at his best friend's heart and pulled the trigger. It was done as a joke, but he hadn't cleared the gun, so in minutes, he watched his friend die. This sh*t happens every day!

BE CAREFUL

check out, I think, packing.org for more info. Most gun manufacturers will send you an owner's manual free if you call their office and tell them the model of the gun. If you plan on keeping the gun, you at least need to read and understand that manual!
Selling the gun requires filling out a BATF 4473 form--transfer firearm. Don't mess with the ATF!

One last thing. A gun is only a little part of your self-defense strategy. It can very easily be used against you. It can give you a false sense of security. Many more people pack than yoy may realize. Careless handling of a gun can get you shot by someone who might think you are about to shoot them!
Even if your target is Osama bin Laden, you are liable for the complete trajectory of that bullet. If you miss Osama and that lead ends up through someone's window, its your bad. And if a kid gets your piece, you are going to need some serious legal and spiritual counselling.
I agree with some of the others here. Get counselling ahead of time. One good indicator is that you are making the connection between your anger and packing.

Well, William.... I almost didn't want to answer you b/c I was afraid that you might take it wrong and get mad!! But don't worry, I know what you're talking about. I have a bad temper, too. I have found that being able to talk about what's bothering me, helps me loosen up and I don't feel the urge to punch someone's face in all the time. The problem now is, who can I talk to? The only person that I have found that really listens and is there any time of the day to talk to.... is God. I know it sounds crazy, and it took me a while to build a relationship up with Him, but eventually I realized that the things I worried the most about weren't such a problem anymore and I always feel better after I let things off my chest.

You don't need a gun, you need therapy. Get rid of it, what are you afraid of? Usually angry people are afraid of something and it comes out as anger... if you're worried you might hurt someone some day then you need to get some help now before its too late. Go to anger management classes, and find a counselor so you have someone to talk to and help you figure our why you have such a problem with anger.

If this is a real question, and not a prank, (in either case, YOU need help), you too need a program in self-help. Anger management classes would be a great place to start. You sound as though you also need some help with your self esteem. As for the gun, you are just crazy to carry any weapon around with you. Your only asking for trouble, kiddo.

You're not going to jail. You need a gun. Just check out NRA. The best way to avoid crimes is for everyone to carry a gun.

I kidding, if you have a temper, you better ditch that gun, before you hurt yourself or someone else.

Dude, if you know you have a temper and all that comes with it, LEAVE THE GUN AT HOME, or sell it, until you get your stuff together.

You don't need to be another statistic the 'anti-gun nuts' can use against us law abiding, gun owning citizens.

Seek counseling from someone you trust to see what is exactly pushing your buttons.

Most of all, don't be a stereotype, or the poster child for the anti-gunners!

there this story that a father taught his son to control his anger.

he said that everytime u felt being angry and rash, hammer a nail into a piece of wood maybe.
the son did and slowly as days passed, the number of nails he hammered got lesser and lesser.
when finally one day, the son could control his emotions and he did not hammer any nails into the wood.
His father then told him to remove all the nails. he then told his son: " everytime u hammer the nail into the wood, it will leave a hole in the wood that will never recover. just like how u vent ur anger and hurt other ppl as well. the scar in the ppl's heart will never recover."

i hope u understand this story. learnt to control ur temper. sometimes, violence does not really solve the problem. Good luck!

First get rid of the weapon if you get caught with it they will point their guns at you that will not be fun. Then, and i am being serious try masturbation it will clear you mind. Then try taking Krav Maga "think of the way the Transporter actor Jason Stathem fights" and you will find you won't need a gun.
