Several methods:

1) You could print it on transparent sheets then shine a light through it onto a wall. Put your big paper there and trace the edges.

2) Same thing if you have an opaque projector, but you can print on regular paper.

3) Print the smaller version, draw a grid over it and make the same number of squares on the bigger version. Then transfer the grid contents a square at a time.

4) Split your small map into 4 parts and print them full size on 4 separate pages. Then use that to trace your big version.

5) Put the image on your computer screen and show one fourth at a time, trace each one onto the big paper. Because the monitor uses light it will actually make this easier for you.

6) Have someone else in your family who is better at drawing draw a faint outline on your big paper and you do the rest. :)

If you have the resources this is a way to do it. Items needed: A light projector, a transparencie of a map of the USA A large piece of paper and a large wall to tape it on. If you have a projector then you should know how to do it. Tape the large piece of paper on a large wall. Then when you have the transparencie set up. Focus the projector but pulling it back and forth to get a larger or smaller map. After that trace the outline. Voila a large outline of the USA

Go to another country for your education. I had to draw a map of the british isles in school, free hand only allowed! Yet again americans show that their education system is the worst in the world!!!!!! (by the way I was in school in africa, had to also draw the continent of africa and all the countries of africa)
Try tracing? or using a scale drawing

There is a great resource for maps of the US online at http://nationalatlas.gov/. There are lots of different options. Make sure to try out the Map Maker software.

Buy poster paper.
Measure the length and width of the poster paper and the map to see how much you need to multiply the dimensions.
Use a ruler to make a grid on the poster paper similar to the grid of the map.

..A B C
1...|...|...1
2...|...|...2
3...|...|...3
..A B C

Then you can put each state and city in the correct block.

Find a picture of a map online and copy it by hand the size you need. That's what people did before computers were born.

You need to use an opaque projector at school. Tape your paper onto the wall and project the US map onto it. Trace around the edges and you are all set.

you could try printing out a small picture, going to the copy center, enlarging it, and tracing it. Or you could print out a small picture, and grid it then enlarge it by a scale factor of maybe 2-4, depending on how big it needs to be.
