I am asking this, because (in my experience always) I got the impression that lesbians are not really keen in hanging around gay guys. There were a couple of them in the halls of residence in my uni and I tried to approach them and others in general but they simply dont seem to feel this connection with people of the same "group". Do they actually prefer to be with straight guys or other lesbians more? Please, I apologise if I sound a bit ignorant but really I never had the chance to hang around with a lesbian, eventhough I would love to. I mean, I never seen or heard about a good friendship between a gay and a lesbian. Maybe I am completely wrong, and just biased on my own experiences...I would love to hear your stories or any corrections on my opinion. Thanks!

kingreef777 I am gay, I am not interested in them sexualy..nor I am interested in just because they are lesbians, and of course I understand that people are people and you cant put them all in the same basket...I just wanted to hear real life stories or situations because I am just curious...gosh people why do you have to take everything the bad way and put an "ignorant" label on someone at once?

Don't know about the people in your area. I love gay guys, I have a lot of gay male friends, and a lot of friends who dress in drag. Not that I seek gay males out for friends, but at one of my old jobs, a lot of the people at my job were either gay, les, or bi. And before I came to school, I was always out at the bar or the club supporting my local drag queens, lol. Sometimes, some of my gay guy friends tend to revolve around a lot of drama and it gets on my nerves, but not all of them are like that.

I don't get out much. A gay bar opened near where I work, in an area that hasn't had anything like that. (It closed after about a year). The bartenders were gay guys, and one lesbian. The other customers were mixed. It was a restaurant mainly, so there were straight customers, and gay and lesbian...a couple of drag queens, but I'm not sure I ever met any real transgendered people there. Anyway, the gay guys and the lesbians hung together and had a lot of fun. We sometimes made jokes about "how could it be a real gay bar with all these women," and they had a few remarks for us, but we all really got to be pretty good friends. I miss the place, and the people.

Darlin' I'd hang out with you!!
I LOVE MEN, the fact that you're gay makes it even better because I don't like them as sexual partners all that much.
Many of my friends are gay men, as well as lesbians, straights (men and women both), bisexuals, trannies, drag kings and queens.
I don't understand the "seperatists" in the GLBT community. We're all "queer" so we need to stick together. We need each other.
Actually one of my closest friends is a gay man. We know each other through theatre and we have a lot in common. We've been close friends for many years.
My first roommate after my divorce was a gay man. (i've always known I was a lesbian...so he didn't influence me in the slightest)....This made my ex really pissed off because he didn't want his son living with a gay man. But I didn't care. I knew my dear friend was one of the most gentile souls and would do anything to protect my son from any kind of harm.
Strangely I think I "get" gay men sometimes better than other lesbians.

Of course they don't but this doesn't means that they hate to chat with gay person. U know ,one of my best friend is a lesbian. She looks very pretty and have nothing different with other straight girls. We have become to the best friends for over 5 years. We do shopping , dining out, and everything, seems like we r a couple. At that time we r all single and I'm a gay. We don't feel any uncomfortable for doing all of these together, so with my personal experience they won't. They don't talk to gay person initiatively maybe is because they don't know how to start a conversation. Not because they r snobby person or sth. else. Try to talk to them and u'll find out that they r more friendly than u thought.

Nostromo,
In all my travels in the world, I found out one simple truth: People are people where ever you go. Some are wonderful, some are treacherous, some are indifferent, and some are magnetically attracted. No matter what group you seek.
The thing that is puzzling is why you would pick out that group? Whatever it is, I'll bet you don't understand it either, only because you haven't been honest with yourself, yet.
I would hope that the reason why you are rejected by then is clear, they think that you are crossing over and are curious about them sexually. Doesn't that make sense to you?
If you want to specifically have lesbian friends, tell them why. I would think that it would be difficult to convince them, but like I said; people are people, no matter where you go.

You're reported for spamming.
To the original post, it sounds as though you have anti social lesbians in your area. It's not a general rule as far as I'm concerned.

Two of my dearest friends are gay men. Honestly, I wish I had more gay men friends in my life. It's wonderful because you can get so much insight and so much male perspective without the worries of anything happening!
