"I respect the flag, I have no respect for liars like Bush and Cheney and Rummy. There is a difference. Do you have a any clue as to how a worn flag is to be disposed of? All marines know this."

The key word is is to be (disposed of), those that burn a flag are doing so for the reason to disrespect it. In other countries there are laws to keep people from burning the flag with less rights than us. It is a shame that some people use the guise (My freedom of expression) to do such a thing.

The only time the flag is to be burned is when a flag is damaged or retired, then its done in a respectful
ceremony.I am a full fledged flag waving liberal Democrat, but I respect the symbol of my country.and the men and women that fought and died under that symbol.
The American flag is a symbol of the freedom and democracy you cherish so much ,burn pictures of Bush and Cheney and the rest of that jackal pack

This issue used to outrage me. Until I heard Gen. Norman Schwartzkopf address it. He did not support a flag burning ammendment to the US Constitution. Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen have died for the goals of America. One of those goals is freedom of speech (includes the expression of burning the flag). It is usually done to draw attention to a cause.

I believe this country and the ideals of Western Civilization are still worth defending and fighting for. Let the Americans that hate where they live burn the flag. Hopefully they will realize one day the gift that previous generations have given them. They are free to say what they want because we don't live in a totalitarian state. We don't live under the thumb of dictators. This did not happen by accident.

If you mean by the RIGHT to burn the flag, there's nothing you can do about it. To make burning the flag illegal would be unconstitutional. Plus that is the only legal way to destroy a flag. I don't see why everyone thinks that someone burning a flag is so bad when they are actually doing us a favor by destroying a flag that had to deal with those pieces of SH*T touching it.

Because they realize that tolerance in a free society is necessary and flag burning really doesn't affect anyone else's rights or obligations. They also like to beleive that we live in a free society.

Why not ban porn? I'm sure that offends some people too.

Don't get distracted by all this, kids are dying every day in Iraq and the GOP wants to hide behind this patriotic BS, make them stick to the issues, not this...of course no one wants to see Old Glory burned...

KEEP TO THE ISSUE (they have used this tactic for the past 2 elections and people still buy into it)
