First, I am assuming that you don't have Vonage yet. The instructions are very simple. But let me outline the steps.

- unplug your computer or router from your high speed internet modem.
- plug in your new Vonage adapter.
- Turn on your new Vonage adapter
- plug a telephone handset into the Vonage adapter.
- Pick up the telephone, and you should soon hear a dial-tone
- Plug your router or computer into the Vonage adapter as directed.
- Log into your Vonage account at www.vonage.com
- Contact Vonage as directed or if you have trouble activating the service.

I have taken my Vonage telephone adapter and telephone with me on vacations... even Hong Kong. It is totally awesome.

I recommend that you play with it for a few days, before changing your regular telphone service over to your new Vonage phone. The idea is that you want to begin using the Vonage phone right away to ensure that it works to your satisfaction.

When the phone service swtiches to your vongage phone, and that hand set RINGS when someone calls, you will notice that your old phone has gone dead. At that point, you will DISCONNECT the phone line as it enters your house. Most homes now have a telephone service box, that the customer can open and access. Simply unplug the modular phone plugs, and the telephone lines in your home are now free to be connected to your new Vonage telephone service adapter.

At this point, log into your vonage account at the website and verify that the 911 Emergency telephone service has been configured for your telephone correctly. This part if your responsibility, but YOU CANNOT TEST 911. That is against the law.

Good luck
