dont tell me the answers just take me through it step by step:
x+2>6 then it says to show the solution on a number line how do you do this?

2nd question:
its 9 over a line like this -- and a 3 under the line then it says + 6

1) solve that equation for "x" by subtracting 2 from each side. then take your answer, and since it says "greater" you circle the number and connect an arrow pointing to the right (higher numbers) so the number line indicates all numbers greater than your answer qualify.

2) sounds like a simple fraction. 9/3+6...in math multiplication and division are done first, addition and subtraction second. so do the 9 divided by 3, then add 6.

OK, I can help you with the first question but I'm not sure on the second one.

X+2>6

You need to subtract the two from the six. Do this by putting a -2 under the 6. Now your answer will be obvious. You will be left with X > blank (whatever 6-2 is)

Now for your number line.
Draw a line. In the middle of the line have a zero.
As you move to the right on your number line write +1, +2,+3 etc....
As you move to the left on your number line write -1,-2,-3 etc.... Now take your answer and make a dot on the number line where your answer falls. Now draw an arrow from that dot to the right if your answer is a positive number and to the left if your answer is a negative number. Good Luck, I hope this helps.

When they want you to solve inequalities on a number line you have to first solve for x. The rules are pretty straight forward. - almost identical as equations. The only difference is if you have to divide by a negative. (I'll explain in a minute)

In your example you would subtract 2 from each side leaving you with x>4 .
If you had to divide by a negative you would switch your inequality sign... example -3x < 60 would be
x>-20 It's minor but very important detail.

As for then putting them on the number line. First draw a line. You should label a few numbers around the answer. So in your example I would show

______________
2 3 4 5 6

You would draw a ray from the 4 to the right since x is GREATER than 4. You would put a round circle (open dot) above the 4. If the inequality was "greater than or equal to" then you would have a solid dot because 4 would satisfy the expression.

Hmm, okay, well, I took algebra 2 years ago, so I'll try my best to help you =^^= I don't really understand your second question, but here is the answer to the first ...
Okay, first off, is the 'x +2' in between absolute value symbols? That could affect the answer ...

x + 2 > 6 (subtract 2 from both sides)
x > 4
............
If there are absolute value symbols ...

l x + 2 l > 6 (an 'or' question)
in the case of 'or's', do this:

x + 2 > 6 OR x + 2 > -6
x > 4 OR x > -8

Draw a number line ... obviously, label the ticks with appropriate numbers ... draw an OPEN circle on 4 and an OPEN circle on -8 ... then shade =^^=

I dont really understand the first one, but i just know that its x added to 2 = a number greater than 6.

2nd question.
That is a fraction. 9/3 is a fraction. If you add 6, change it into a improper fraction or something. I cant remember the term but its when the numerator can exceed the denominator. Find a common denominator (bottom number)

SO, 9/3 +6
9/3 + 18/3 <---- its 18/3 because if you make the bottom 3, then you multiply the top by 3 to make it a improper fraction
So now you add it. SInce you dont want the answers, just add it now. 9/3 + 18/3 = ?/?
DONT FORGET TO REDUCE THE FRACTION (Just divide the numerator by the denominator if possible.

ANOTHER way you can solve it is:
9/3 <--- can reduce to 3 (imagine the line means divide. So its 9 divided by 3 which =3)
Now it becomes:
3+6=?

That's another way you can do it if it is possible to make it a proper fraction.

x + 2 > 6 in these problems the ">" (greater than sign) can be thought of like the "=" sign. Whatever you do to one side of it, you have to do to the other, so....

x + 2 > 6 subtract 2 from the left side, and 2 from the right side
x > 4 That's it. Now all you have to do is graph it.

the rest gets rough. it's easier for me to just draw the answer than try to explain it. if you have a math book you should read that, it probably has an example. always do the example until you grasp the concept.

Here's a picture of how the graph should look.

something plus 2 is more than 6, so 6 minus 2 is something minus 1, because 6 minus 2 EQUALS something

9 divided by 3 plus 6

think of the circle rolling. After one finished revolution, the factor could have traveled the area of the circumference faraway from the beginning place. After 2 revolutions, it could have traveled 2 circumferences and after ten, ten circumferences. The circumference of a circle = 2*pi*radius. using fact the radius is a million, a circumference is 2pi. So after one revolution, it could have traveled 2pi. After 2: 4pi. After ten: 20pi. desire this helps!
