First of all -- are you certified by the State of Florida for Special Education? Because if you are certified in another state, then you need to contact the State of Florida Department of Education to see what you need to do to transfer in your certifications and if you need to take any further certification tests or continuing education.

Second -- I am the parent of a (now adult) child with Autism Spectrum Disorders, AND ... in the State of Florida -- all children with Diagnoses on the Autism Spectrum are registered with the following organization (because they also help with the Special Needs compliance with Autistic Students (and also have support services, various seminars, training opportunities, parent support groups, etc) -- they are the Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (and there are regions in Florida -- so I am putting the website info for the South Florida in this response):
http://card-usf.fmhi.usf.edu/groups.asp

Try there first -- CARD (Center for Autism and Related Disabilities) is the place to start in the State of Florida. and to be able to offer services to Autistic Students in particular -- then you need to contact them for the Training Requirements -- and I am positive they will send you the information you need (and also a listing of all their near term training seminars too -- including ones that offer continuing education credits).

Are you certified? If so, contact local school districts who may put you on their lists. Also, you could try local pediatricians who might decide to reccommend you. Finally, a newspaper ad might do the trick. Good Luck!
