First of all, Antonio, LET ME APOLOGIZE ON BEHALF OF ALL NICE PEOPLE for Karen M's unkind insulting response... That is not the purpose of this forum... I don't know what kind of "kick" she experienced from putting you down... but chalk it up to someone who needs some help in human relations... writing that answer had no purpose other than to make someone feel bad... accomplishes nothing... Please don't feel bad... A person "hip-shot" a very poor response... bad judgement without thinking... and worthy of a follow-up APOLOGY, if she has any "salt" at all...

Note to Karen... Why don't you think about what you said to Antonio... show you are big enough to apologize... reverse his hurt feelings... Let's all be friends, chug a hypothetical beer, and forget the issue...

Now... a quality answer your question... Rest assured, even tho' you spelling wasn't the greatest, you expressed your question VERY WELL, AND EASILY UNDERSTOOD... nice job!!!...

The answer is "yes"... but with a lot of extra hassle and expense... probably not worth it to change the engine brand...

First a good welder would have to fabricate custom engine mounts to adapt the non-Mitsubishi engine to your car.

Secondly, it is highly doubtful another brand of transmission and/or clutch stack-up would readily mate to the engine without machining adaptor pieces...

If its more ponies you want, you probably would lessen the above 2 problems by using a bigger Mitsubishi engine... but then you face the issue of needing both a larger cooling (radiator) and exhaust system...

The cash register goes "ker-ching" $$$... "ker-ching" $$$... and the resale value of a modified car also goes down... You'll probably do better considering another car if the Mirage 1.5 is inadequate...

It can be done. It will cost though. To do a swap to another carmaker you will need to do alot of research. the engine probably won't be the only thing that you will need. you will probably need the engine, transmission, ecu, harnesses, etc. Size is a factor also. Why not just get another car or an engine that is from the same car.

Of course it can be done, it just costs a lot of $, a lot of time, and a lot of wrench work. I for one, wish I had a cheap 2JZ-GTE engine from a turbo charged Supra to fit in my 93 Celica GT... but the 2JZ is Toyota's equivilant to Dodge/Pylmouth/Chrysler's 426 Hemi; powerful fast and expensive...
