They only have 2 but some have a emergency brake peddle/handle depending on the car.

the automatic transmission offers you 2 petals, the gas petal to the right under the steering column, and the brake to the left of the gas petal. If a car had to be manually shifted, there would be a clutch next to the brake petal. in a lot of vehicles there is a petal way off to the left of the car, near the outside panel a small petal, that would be used to put on the emergency brake.

Actually sometimes there is a third pedal which operates the parking brake. This is in place of a hand brake. This pedal sits to the very far left and is often up higher than the other two pedals.

yeah and the brake pedal is larger. a manual or 5 speed has a third pedal the clutch and its all the way to the left.
