Smiles the answer would certainly have to be subjective and relative. When I paint a house exterior I may work an 8 hour day, but it's more likely to be 6. I enjoy my work, but I also enjoy making my own schedules, and I know what I am capable of doing in what amount of time. My time equates to anywhere from $25 to $40 per hour to paint.

In trades work, very honestly, it's the easiest GOOD money I've ever made.

There is so much to this, esp in the US, are they are union paintor, do they work for a company, or do they operate thier own small business. Most work at least a 8 hour day but many small business or private workers will do 10 to 12 hours if the weather is good, since there will be days they can't work.

averagely about 8 hours but if he works for the council he will be there for 8 hours but only physically working for maybe 20 mins, in which case he has an extremely well paid job, to get all that money for 20 mins work!

If he is painting a very very tiny little house he could finish the entire job in 20 minutes

If your self employed you work as many hours as you can when the weather is good, weekends including.
Wet weather dark nights means no pay.

That depends on the job. My neighbor is one. Sometimes he works 8-8 hours, sometimes less.
