Its definitely fiction!!!! I've read interviews with the actors when the movie was 1st released... at the time the publicity and hype for the movie made everyone assume it was fact!!!

Fiction, that was based on factual accounts given by people who, supposedly; experienced what went on in the movie. I know film students that have researched the background and have never found any "real" evidence. There was a lot of active imagination going on. Cannot say if the actors and script were "enhanced" or not. Have a good night, and don't go into the woods.......eeeek.

Years ago - I fell for the same exact thing - I saw the sneak preview before it came out in all theaters - and my friend and I were horrified. We went online to the website and found all this info (this was their promotional tactic) The next night I see the girl who 'died' on David Letterman. I was like WTF? So yeah it is fiction.... but there IS a story behind it, about some kids being kidnapped, killed by a guy --
