I want to buy a Jimny but his engine is too low so i want to replace it with a turbo diesel from some pick up or some other and bigger 4 by 4. Does anyone have some information about engine swaps or know sites that can provide me with information?

Thank you John Paul for your answer. I would try to be more specific so maybe you can help me more. I choose to buy a Jimny because is the only 4 x 4 my pocket can handle for now but his engine and horse power are very low. I made a search and in the www.rocky-road.com I saw that they have put a VW 1,9L turbo diesel engine in a samurai and I though may I can change Jimnys engine too. I saw also that someone has put a Vitara engine in Jimny. I have notice that trucker is small but is smaller than Vitaras too. I want diesel engine for fuel economy mostly but not instead of power. Almost all companies have suv and pick ups with diesel engines so I ask this question and hoped that someone know if some of all this engines could fit. Imagine if we have the capability to fit a turbo diesel engine like Nissan Navaras engine, this little car would be like flying.

What year Jimmy? It will be a little hard to find, but Isuzu uses the same platform as GM. The Isuzu diesels are either a little older, or are quite a bit larger, like you find in the Iveco trucks, and unless its the old full size Jimmy, you'd have trouble putting that engine in.

Boy o Boy do you have a thing or two to learn! First off the mid size trucklet cannot accept very large engines. Small block chevy V-8 is the most popular drop in and go. But Turbo diesel? Just what kind of engine? compairable weight I hope. The mercedes 300 sd 5 Cyl turbo diesel makes 100 hp weighs in at 600 lbs with transmission. No sum gain and less power plus costly to swap in. What ever you decide try for a complete car or truck running hit in the side to get the engine out of then there are service manuals for both the Jimmy And what you got the motor out of so you can make the electrical systems start run and recharge the battery.

Something that Mr Goodwrench above failed to mention is that if the Jimmy is gas and you want deisel you will have to replace more than just the fuel tank. However I will word this answer like you are a little child and I am talking down to you like Mr. Goodwrench did above. That would be rude, and the worst part of yahoo answers.
