im really impressed of the reaction of the americans here, the vast majority is congratulating the greek team, no hard feelings, no sour loosers. My "arrogant american" stereotype has serious problems after this.

i've always been wary of single elimination games since a more superior team can have an off night and lose....given the less accurate shooting percentages of the usa team their loss of only 6 points was an indication of their superior talent...they were outshot 62 to 50 percent and only sank 59% from the free throw line...i really think fiba should change the single elimination format for the semis and finals so fluke winners would be more far-fetched...best of three would make the americans probable winners in their recent losses in the international scene

We didn't lose because we had the wrong players, and definetly didn't lose because of scrub-*** Bruce Bowen. The only reason he a good defender becacause of the team defense San Antonio plays. I saw foreign boys dealing on him. Watch his career plumit if he gets traded. I hate to say it, because I think he is one of the best coaches ever, but I think most of this one land on coach K. Think about it. These are allstars, if not the best were have to offer, very close to it. LeBron, Wade, and Melo are amongst the top ten players in the league. Even though Kobe's not available, no Duncan(yes American), Shaq or Ivo, this is a really good collection of players. Most of the blame truely lies on the timing. These international teams play together all the time, some of the teams have been together for years. We basically play on raw ability and limited chemistry. Coaching has to fill in the blanks.

Anyway, now that I've vented, I didn't see the end of the game, but if this happened that's great. This is a young team, and after what happened to the US last time, they could have easily just walked off the court. That's great if they were good sports.

It is good, whoever chose the players made a mistake. How many team players are there on the team? Only 1 or 2 starters and a few backups. I think the Heat or Pistons (With Ben Wallace) would have been able to beat Greece

Yeah I gave out a "congratulations" on here. That included my complaining about how dissappointed I was that team USA lost. So while I'm here, I'll say "congrats" to you also and see you at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing...and if we (USA) don't win that, then I'm going to kick myself in the face.

I also want to say "Thank you" Greece for inventing the Olympics.

Sour grapes come from the Greek fable about the fox who couldn't jump high enough to grab the fruit off the vine.

You are precise and correct!
Greeks did the unexpected, as they usually do!
After the basketball game, the Greek water polo team wan against the mighty German team! As I write, the Greek team is winning the Slovenian (10 - 3), ... I hope tomorrow we win in soccer, in Moldavia!

I knew the US would lose once they dropped Bruce Bowen from the squad. He is the best defender in the game of basketball. Greece did a great job exploiting the lack of defense on the part of the US. Congrats to Greece for playing great team basketball.
