It usually takes about 4-8 weeks to recover from a hysterectomy, if she had the abdominal surgery type. Plenty of rest is needed for about the first 2-3 weeks and then she should be allowed to drive, and do light housework, and if she works she might be able to go back to work. Lifting is also out of the question for the first two weeks postop. If she had a scope procedure done, this usually takes less time to heal- usually one to two weeks until things are somewhat back to normal, and four to six weeks bkac to normal completely. She needs some time to heal.

It affects different women in different ways. One woman I knew was up and going to a conference in another state a couple of weeks afterwards, but that is HIGHLY unusual. Normally, it takes a while for the body to heal.

When you drive, you don't notice it, but it pulls on your abdominal muscles. I had a laparoscopy done and even though the incision was only an inch, they instructed me not to drive for a week. At the end of the week, I drove a short distance and decided that was all I was going to do that day. It still hurt a lot.

I don't know what kind of incision she had to get it done, but it's major surgery so there is going to be a major recovery time.

Depending on why she had it done, she might also be struggling with the emotional aspect of it. If she really didn't want to have it done but was forced into it for a health reason, she might be struggling with some grief over losing her uterus. That could play a role in why she might not be helping out much.

oh you have no idea how painful a hysterectomy is. i had mine 5 weeks ago. i just started driving last week, it still hurts some to turn the sterring wheel and hitting a bump puts new meaning to pain. in case you arent aware of it, the outside skin may look healed, but there may be as many as 1000 stitches on the inside. there is a lot of damage not only to the parts that were cut, but also to the muscles and other internal organs being shoved around to get them out of the way. it takes 4-8 weeks to get back to reasonably normal but even with that it takes a year to recover fully on the inside. this is major surgery. she has to take it easy or she could hurt herself and end up back in surgery. give her a break and help out. as far as housework i only dust and do a little light cooking. i dont do more than i feel comfortable with and neither should she. be nice, its not forever, its just for another month or so. grow up and deal with it.

Your mom isn't trying to escape from doing usual things she used to do. She is just doing right to give her body time to recover. Having hysterectomy takes a month to have the healing and recovery period. If you had helped her for two weeks then just try to bear with her another two weeks time. If you are a good and caring daughter though, give her a hand in household chores even if a month had past . As your mother has taken cared and is taking care of you ,you got to be concerned of her health too. She is just taking care of her health to continue giving her care to the family in the long run. Be kind to your mother, please! Thanks.

G'day Manda,

Thanks for your question.

Having a hysterectomy is a serious operation. It may your mother some time to get over. You might want to have a chat with her doctor about how long it will take her to recover. Medline Plus advises that it can take between two weeks and two months to recover so you might have to help her out a bit longer.

I have attached some sources for your reference.

Best wishes to you and your mom.

Regards

she is still unable to drive in case there is an accident she can hemmorage her insides and break stiches if she crashes hard and she is not allowed to lift heavy things or bend over for 4-6 weeks as this is the recovery time for a woman who has had a hysterectomy for the same reason as crashing her car

Your mother gave birth to you and I am sure she clean not only up after you but also cleaned you up for more than 2 weeks. It is the least you can do for her for a short time. She won't be with you forever so I would take advantage of helping her while you can.

It may take another 2 weeks before she is able to do things less painfully. may be she is taking advantage of your help. Are there other people around the house? Do you have to go to school too? What about your Dad?

I think two weeks is not long enough to heal. Maybe there is pain in certain types of movment that prevent your mother from helping out. If you are living under her roof, you should not complain. If she is living under your roof, ask her if she could help out.

at first quiet down. that's good to care approximately your mothers and dads. yet while every physique tells you to disobey Allah (i.e shaving the beard or stoping going to Masjid) then there is not any obedience to the guy. . So obey Allah.
