You could get a poodle skirt, but that takes some work. In the 50's we wore pedal pushers, which are pretty much the same as the capri pants we wear these days.

A plain pair of black capri pants, a white long-sleeved button-down cotton shirt, white socks and white canvas sneakers would be fine. You could also get a little scarf in a solid color and tie it around your neck. That was big back then. Put a bow in your hair to finish the look.

No problem. Girls wore short sleeved sweaters with full skirts, bobbie sox (white cotton sox) and side saddles (oxford shoes white with brown on each side of the middle) Also, a scarf about the size of a bandana ties around the neck. Pop-beads (plastic pearls) and tennis bracelets (called charm bracelets in those days)Boys wore jeans (dungarees they were called then) and a long sleeved sport shirt or a white t shirt with a pkg. of Marlboro's rolled into the sleeve at the bicept. mPenny loafers were worn by girls and boys, with a penny if you were a poor kid, and a nickle if you were a rich kid.

Get him nice fitting jeans, in the classic Levis 501 shape. That would match well with light coloured shirts (long/short sleeve, depends on what he usually wears) a plain knit jumper would go weel with it, and black smart shoes.

for makeup - neutral eyeshadow, light mascara/eyeliner... for daytime they'd usually wear a pale, neutral lipstick, but for night and parties - red.

for clothes - poodle skirts, cocktail dress...high waisted jeans with a blouse? depends on what type of party it is.

I think girls wore poodle skirts, past their knees. Saddle shoes, sweaters.
