Makeup brushes can harbor lots of dirt and bacteria, but frequent washing of your makeup brushes can keep them - and your face - clean and healthy.

Steps:
1. Run the bristles of the makeup brush under warm running water.

2. Apply a small amount of shampoo to bristles and work into a light lather.

3. Rinse bristles thoroughly under running water. You will notice that the water leaving the brush is tinted from old makeup.

4. Continue rinsing until no color leaves the brush.

5. Allow it to air-dry.

Tips:
Many professional makeup artists use a specialized cleaning solution for their brushes. These solutions are available at most beauty supply stores.

I use a little dish soap to clean my brushes with warm water because it gets all of the makeup off the brushes, cleans and disenfects the m, and gets rid of oil residue that has built up on the brush. Shampoo doesn't do as good a job. I feel that if you want to wash them as I do about once a month you want to really clean them well and dish soap does the job. Wash with warm water. Then I lay them on a towel to air dry. Also try not to get the upper handle wet where the bristles connect to the handle as excessive wetness can cause the brush part to disconnect from the actaul handle.

P.S. For some reason I have never really worn mascara. If I do on an occasional basis I go with clear as I tend to go for a natural look. Happy washing! Hope I helped.

Cleaning Makeup Brush: I would mix water with a bit of shampoo in a glass, then I will put in all my blush, stir in the same direction until all the colors come off. Then I will have another glass of clean water and stir the brush in the same direction until the shampoo is washed. I will put the brush flat to let it dry.

Yes I do wear mascara everyday (except I am staying in all day).

I like regular soap and hot water. I let the brushes soak in the soapy water for an hour or two, then I really swish the bristles with my fingers to make sure all the make up is out, then rinse well until the water runs clean (no more soap). You can let the brush air dry, then when dry, fluff it up and it's good as new.

i usually take the anti bacterial soap in my bathroom and wash my makeup brushes with that. but MAC also makes a very nice brush cleaner (if you're willing to spend the money).

abou the mascara: i don't wear it every day. sometimes i use the clear mascara and on other days i use black mascara. depends on the outfit i'm wearing and the mood i'm in. =]

MAC sells a great brush cleaner. Ask them to show you how to use it at the counter. I swear by it.

Yes, I wear mascara EVERY day. Don't leave home without it.

Shampoo takes out the dirt and oils! Mascara is great, but and eyelash curler is better-would rather have that every day if given the option.

I use mascara everytime I go out. If it's just a stay-at-home day, then no. =)

Cleaning your brushes, just use a mild soap & water.
