1) Plug in the speakers. Correctly.
2) Turn the speakers on, turn them up
3) Install your soundcard's software.
4) Unmute the system volume (in the volume controls, Start > Programs > Accessories > Entertainment)
5) Turn up the system volume
6) Play some audio

If that doesn't fix it, then you probably don't have your sound card correctly seeded in your motherboard.

Being that there are so many different types of computers and programs, sometimes it takes a little maneuvering around.

You can go to your start menu, click on it,

then go to "settings" and the "control panel" will come up,

click on it and a large control panel will come up with about 30 items on it.

Click on "sounds & multimedia" and a box comes up so you can make sure your computer settings are correct.

Go to audio and check those settings.

Sometimes you have to play around with the settings to get it right. Look at the bottom of your computer to see if a picture of a speaker is there and if it is crossed out , then you know your settings are wrong.

With all of your answers you are bound to put them all together and get your sound back.

You can try this,

1) go into Control Panel

2) Click System

3)Tab: Hardware

4) click Device Manager

5) Find your sound card (usually has a picture of a speaker next to it and says Sound and Multimedia, click it and the list will drop down.)

6)Double click it, a window will open

7) There should be another tab in the window, select it (sorry, cant remember it at the moment) and click Reinstall Driver.

8)IM seanieb6492 on YIM if you have any trouble ;)

first open up your volume control and make sure that everything is on, nothing muted, then check to make sure that everything is connected properly to your speakers and your tower. It should work, if not, go into the options inside your volume control panel and hit options in the upper left hand corner, make sure all of your boxes are checked, if they are go into the help right next to the options and start reading to troubleshoot. Good luck.
