...no wearing white after labor day?

I personally don't give a flip about such rules. I'm just happy to have clothes to wear and I don't care what anyone thinks about it, either.

I thought I'd ask this question because my SIL (who's over 40) believes that following certain fashion rules shows a particular type of "breeding" and anyone who doesn't follow them "obviously" wasn't raised right. So I thought I'd see if there was anyone else who felt like that....

(And, no, I do NOT get along with my SIL)

Fashion is up to each persons own personality and that's the way it should be too.
I wear white shoes if my outfit calls for it no matter what the season.
The same goes for every other color as well. In the summer if I decide to wear black I wear black and in the fall and winter if I decide to wear white I wear white. I don't care for all those fashion designers who tell us what to wear and when to wear it either. How do they know what mood I'll be in when I go some place and how do they know what I look best in for that matter?
I dress for me and if someone doesn't like it I really could care less because it's me and my sense of style that I go for and nothing more or less.
I really like your question and hope others agree too.

I never really understood the whole not wearing white after Labor Day rule! I mean, if you can't wear it after Labor Day then you can't ever wear it again! Right?

I don't follow all of those rules and usually don't go with the latest trends. Be yourself, not the girl in the magazine.

Even though I don't follow those rules, I do follow these wonderful tips at the website below!

Don't follow rules, Why. Join me in liberating female kind from the oppression of these antiquated demands for feminine fashion! They only serve the interests of the ruling class in New York, Paris and Milan. The devil does wear Prado! So I say, piss on your rules you skinny hermaphrodites! I am wearing white at Halloween if I want!

I don't believe in fashion rules either. I wear what I like. I think it's great that you have what it takes to do that also. Although I do follow simple rules like not being rude to people without being provoked. Society is fickle and they change the rules to often for me to even keep up so I don't even bother trying.

No. I hate fashion rules. They are stupid and over-rated. You should be able to wear whatever you want to and just express yourself. I personally love to wear comic book t-shirts and jeans. I do not care if people say I dress sloppy. I do not dress sloppy. I dress comfortably. Fashion is all about what makes you happy and comfortable. Sure, it can be an art, but it is more about how you feel.

There are some rules that I follow. Like:
-Wearing white at a wedding
-Wearing patterns w/ patterns

But yeah, usually I really don't care, as long as what I'm wearing looks good and chic; not trashy/slutty.

Some rules I follow, but mostly I like to be sensible and do my own thing. I'm about being clean and comfortable.

I'm like you happy to have clothes. Those fashion rules are stupid. White is white...if it matches than who cares.
