Paradoxically, I think the same word describes its best and worst aspects, and that is the fact that it is largely unregulated.
The beauty of the internet is that there probably isn't a single subject, or opinion, or creed that isn't featured somewhere.
The main drawback is the fact that many of those subjects, opinions and creeds will be unlawful, offensive, and distasteful among other things.
I think this leads to a far greater question which could be debated in many ways, for a great deal of time, by so many different people. Should the net be regulated, or not?

Best thing for me is the ability to find out anything. I feel in Britain you only get the history the government wants you to get. Also entering competitions for free.
I suppose the worst thing is that it has opened up opportunities for those of dubious virtue.
