If the unknown is known as 'the unknown', does that make the unknown 'the known'?

I'd answer "I don't know" here, but I'd just be being facetious.

The best authority on this is, of course, Donald Rumsfeld:

The message is: That there are known knowns, There are things we know that we know.
There are known unknowns, that is to say there are things that we now know, we don't know.
But there are also unknown unknowns; there are things we do not know we don't know.
And each year we discover a few more of those unknown unknowns.

Not in the sense of true knowledge, no; otherwise, yes, because it is know as the unknown, but precisely what the thing that is unknown is, is unknown. If you understand what I'm saying?

i think that these things are best left alone because there's no point if its called the unknown then we will never know but saying that i would like to know tell me when you find out?

once you have used quotation marks, you have answered your question in a way. you were compelled to use quotation marks to indicate that the word "unknown" does not have its full natural meaning, but is getting a qualified, restricted use. Quotation marks show that it is more a matter of a play on words, names, than what really matters in life. we know the word for unknown, but it has not lost one bit of its importance and wonder and dreadfulness because we know the word for it. it's as terrible and wonderful as ever. as Socrates said, the important thing to learn is that we do not really know

Well, I don't know what the know is either, so they are both unknown to me! Maybe it is a matter of perspective.
